I remember when I was growing up always thinking of myself as a city girl. Being a "townie" not living in "da bay" gave me a false sense of security for my departure at twenty for the big city of Calgary. The drive from the airport into the city all lit up in the middle of the night with my neck craning out the window was a rude but wonderful awakening. Getting mugged by two woman on 17th Street the next day wasn't as welcome of an experience but that Street was still always my favorite place to hangout. Maybe it was the good shopping.
