I remember struggling a little in college because everything had to have some deep meaning behind it. I believe that sometimes the love of the process or the medium you are working in is more then a good enough reason to create. To be able to watch a plain piece of fabric grow with nothing but a doodle and some fabric dye into a finished hand dyed and printed garment seems like a pretty good reason to make something to me.
